In a newbuilding project, ClassIBS reviews design plans and conducts surveys during construction. This is to verify compliance with ClassIBS Rules for Classification and other standards referenced therein.
The scope covers hull structures, electrical and piping systems, engines, generators, steering gear, propeller, and other major machinery components.
Plan approval of the newbuilding design is part of the basis for issuing a class certificate. Approved drawings are the basis for the ClassIBS Newbuilding surveys.
The approval includes a thorough evaluation of all main drawings, such as scantlings, systems and installations to such an extent that the design fully complies with international mandatory requirements, Flag State requirements as well as the ClassIBS Classification Rules.
